2008 Domaine de la Chanade "Les Rials" ~ France In France, "Loin de L' Oeil" (Far from the Eyes) is a 1,000 year-old white varietal that has been almost abandoned. Thankfully, two young French winemakers, Christian Hollevoet and Christophe Etchebar, decided to resurrect the grape. The result, Les Rials. This off-dry white wine has a floral, citrus-fruit aroma, with flavors of tropical fruits and candied delicacies. It is medium weight and very refreshing, but it also has some noticeable mouthfeel due to barrel fermentation and being kept "Sur Lie" for more fruit flavors and a longer aftertaste.
